Most social services of health and medical care insurances provide nursery services for sick children. You can find information on their website and ask about it to your insurer adviser.

This non-profit making organisation provides free services to seriously ill children and their families, in particular:

•    Transfer from hospital to home;

•    Nursery services during parents’ absence;

•    Visits of children at the hospital.

Upon hospital’s requests, volunteers accompany, drive and entertain sick children as well as take them on holidays and entertaining events.

The service provided by this non-profit making organisation consists of an emergency help which allow parents to go to work when their child, aged between 0 to 12 years-old, must stay home. Upon parents’ request and based on a medical certification, a trusted and qualified person come to the parents’ home so as to care for the sick child while they work.

Lump sum

20 € for 1 child

30€ for 2 children

This service is provided for at least 3 hours and at last 10 hours. It cannot exceed 3 consecutive days.

Provision of nursery services from 8h to 18h, from Monday to Friday, except on holidays.  

Support and home medical care: Non-profit making organisation « Les libellules »

If your child, aged between 3 months and less than 12 years-old, is sick and unable to be admitted at the nursery, by the childminder or at school, a qualified nursery nurse from this organisation can take care of him during your absence, based on a medical certificate.

The nursery nurses ensure an attentive and educational presence with your sick child (comfort, games, reading) and provide the child with the necessary care (feeding, taking temperatures, hygiene, naps, medication following the directions provided by the physician).

The staff is qualified as the nurses hold a degree on nursery nurse. They are constantly trained on subjects such as childhood and health.

Rates

The full or part-time rates are in accordance with net cumulated incomes.

The rates during ‘uncomfortable” hours may vary.

Provision of services

From 8h to 17h

Possible to extend this time. Rates vary when ‘uncomfortable” hours are part of the time-table.

Home nursery services for sick children provided to parents from the 19 communes of the Region of Brussels-Capital. A medical certificate is to be presented and the service is to be prevented as earlier as possible. The home care is provided at least for 4 hours and at last for 9 hours, from 7h to 21h. The rates are calculated in accordance with the net incomes from the household and by adding the travelling expenses to the parents’ home. This care centre does not provide services for self-employed people and individuals working for the European Union institutions.

General Medicine Centres (Maisons Médicales)

The general medicine centre from Maelbeek provides nursery services to sick children. The residents from Ixelles and Etterbeek can benefit from it and it is ensured by nursery nurses.
