Interment is to bury the deceased in a cemetery.
Common ground
The body will rest at least 5 years in the cemetery.
For the deceased domiciled in the commune, the burial is free of charges.
Granted land
The family pays the right to use the land on which the body rests.
The duration of the concession depends on municipal regulation (10, 20 years or more).
During this period, the family must maintain the burial or risk losing the concession.
In vault
The family pays the right to use the land where a vault will be built.
The concession period is specific to each commune (from 10 to 50 years).
During this period, the family must maintain the vault under penalty of losing the concession.
The coffin must be adapted according to the local regulation in force (wooden, zinc, polyester coffin)
Incineration, also known as cremation is to cremate the body and give the ashes to the family so as they can disperse it:
dispersion at the crematorium
dispersion in the cemetery
dispersion and immersion in the North Sea
burial or scattering on private property designated by the deceased during his lifetime with the written consent of the landowner
burial ground in common
burial ground granted
burial vault
in the columbarium
surrender the ashes to a person designated conservation during his lifetime by the late
return of the ashes abroad
Lawn for babies
Clothing requirements
Certain requirements must be followed by crematorium officers. The remains should be lightly dressed in natural materials. Synthetic materials are prohibited. In principle, any object can be added in the coffin, unless it is exceptional.
In case of repatriation, various additional formalities are required:
medical certificate of contagion,
international permit transfer,
body acceptance by the commune of destination,
sealing the coffin (in some cases).
The regulations may also vary from country to country, including the type of coffin and the embalming of the deceased.
