Doctors on duty

If your child has to be examined by a doctor or a dentist outside regular visiting hours, you can contact a service on duty. Please avoid going to the emergency service of a hospital if it is not necessary so as to avoid burdening these services unduly.

Services on duty

Recently, the number 1307 (national inquiries) offers the possibility to know the phone number of doctors on duty in your commune.

  • Médinuit: 02/427 97 27, boulevard du Jubilé 93, 1080 Brussels. Unit of doctors on duty  (general practice) opened during the week from 19h to 24h and from 8h to 24h during weekends and bank holidays - www.medinuit.be

  • On-duty unit Terranova, rue des Cendres 9, 1000 Brussels. Open from Friday at 20h to Monday at 6h and from 20h to 6h on days that precede bank holidays.

Chemists on duty

About twenty pharmacies are on duty each week in Brussels. Thus, they are available after regular hours in the 19 communes in Brussels but, only half of them remain open beyond 23h.

The charts of chemists on duty posted on the doors of chemist shops give information only on chemists on duty till 23h. In order to get the addresses of chemist shops open between 23h and 9h, you should call 070/66 01 60 or visit the websites www.fpb.be role-call (link rôle de garde) or www.servicedegarde.be.

If you have a health care insurance, please do not forget to bring your SIS card to the chemist shop.

The on-duty tax costs € 4,72 minimum and it is to be paid once, regardless of the number of products. It is due between 19h and 8h during the week, on Sundays and bank holidays. It is supported by your health care insurance if there is at least one prescription for a medication that is refundable (with the SIS card). Vaccines, serums and exceptional use of gamma globulin may themselves be obtained at the Clinique Saint-Jean, Rue du Marais 114, 1000 Brussels (24h/24).

Dentists on duty

In order to know the dentists on duty, you shall call 02/426 10 26. On weekdays from 21h to 7h, on weekends from Saturday at 7h to  Monday at 7h, on bank holidays from 7h to 21h.
